Our Story

We live in Cambridge with our family and grow flowers just down the road at Pastures Farm in Caxton. Having both grown up on the 'Fen Edge,' we’ve spent our lives rooted in this area, and now we're raising our own children in the city. We're both driven by a deep connection to nature and a sense of responsibility to our children—we want to protect our little part of the Earth today so they can enjoy a happy, healthy future tomorrow.

Observing, respecting and revering nature is not a newfound passion for us; it's always been a way of life. Whether that's the joy of spotting summer's first swallow or the serenity on glimpsing a dewy autumn web – nature's wonder and beauty is at the very heart of our lives, and we will do everything we can to protect and preserve it.

We took the opportunity in 2013 to live on the Rothamsted Estate in Harpenden, where we would be immersed in nature, living deep in the countryside at the centre of the 800 hectare farm. Chris worked as the Farm Manager at Rothamsted Research, one of the world's longest-running agricultural research institutes, for 12 years. The estate was our treasured home; it's where we got married, had both our children, and where Emma started her first small-scale flower-growing and floristry business.

We also learnt a lot about how we wanted to work with the land and in harmony with nature by being exposed to the realities of industrialised agriculture: depleted soils, declining biodiversity due to habitat loss, and practices that were harmful to humans and nature. This includes the widespread use of pesticides and land management that lacked respect for the wild rhythms of the natural world.
